Learn how to install DHCP 2023

DHCP : Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a network protocol used to automatically assign IP addresses and network configuration parameters to device on a network.

When a device joins a network, it sends out a DHCP request, and a DHCP server on the network responds with an available IP address and other network configuration information such as subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server addresses. This eliminates the need for manual configuration of network setting on each device, and ensures that each device has a unique IP address on the network.

DHCP can be used in small home networks as well as large corporate networks. It simplifies network management and reduces the chance of IP address conflicts. DHCP can also be configured to assign IP addresses based on MAC addresses, allowing specific devices to always receive the same IP address.
