Understanding IP Address Classes

The IANA divides the IP address space into three basic classes. Each class provides a different number of possible network and host identifier, and therefore, each is suitable for installation of a specific size. The three classes, and the relative sizes of the network and host identifier.



IP Address Classes


·         Class A: 10.0.0.0 through 10.25.255.255

·         Class B: 172.16.0.0 through 172.31.255.255

·         Class C: 192.168.0.0 though 192.168.255.255
