TCP/IP

TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) is the set of protocols used for communication over the internet. It is a suite of communication protocols that enable communication between devices on different networks.

TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) is responsible for establishing and maintaining a reliable communication channel between devices. It breaks data into packets and ensures that each packet is transmitted without errors and in the correct order. It also ensures that packets are retransmitted if they are lost or corrupted during transmission.

IP (Internet Protocol) is responsible for addressing and routing packets across the internet. It assigns a unique IP address to each device on the network and ensures that packets are delivered to the correct destination.

Together, TCP and IP form the foundation of internet communication. Other protocols that are part of the TCP/IP suite include DNS (Domain Name System), which is used to translate domain names into IP addresses, and HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), which is used for web browsing.
